Oil and Gas Exploration Sites

ENERCON has performed hundreds of site screenings, project plans, Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) reviews for numerous oil and gas exploration sites including drilling locations, lease roads and pipeline routes. Included in these services for many of the sites were Threatened & Endangered (T&E) Species Surveys, Cultural & Historic Surveys, waters of the US and Section 404 waters evaluations, and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans.
The T & E Survey included a review of federal and state lists of T&E species for the counties in which the construction was planned; review of federal and state lists of designated critical habitat areas; field inspection to identify T&E species that may be onsite; evaluation of the area for habitat characteristics described as appropriate for a listed species; informal consultation with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS); and documentation of findings with recommendations for any further studies that may be required by the USFWS. The Cultural & Historic Survey included a review of the National Register of Historic Places for sites listed on, or in the vicinity of, the proposed construction site; interviews with landowners, lease-holders, and/or neighbors (as necessary) for knowledge of past uses of the property with potential cultural or historical significance; field inspection to identify any visible evidence of current or past structures, artifacts, or fossils that may be present; review of address-restricted and recorded sites on file at the State Archaeological Survey; informal consultation with the State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO), State Archaeologist, and any relevant Indian Tribal organizations; and documentation of findings with recommendations.
