Electric Utility Environmental Services

Compliance... Site Characterization, Remediation... Project Planning

ENERCON is uniquely qualified to support the electric power generation and transmission industry of today, and tomorrow. Today, energy is on the forefront of national and global policy making due to potential concerns of global warming and energy self reliance. All current projections reflect a significant increase in the need for electric power above current capacity. This need will put stress on both electric power generation and transmission capacities. Key needs will be generation that addresses clean fuel alternatives (including carbon sequestration) and overcoming the current limitations of the power grid. ENERCON is already supporting this need for growth. We have supported the existing power generation industry since 1982 in all aspects of engineering and environmental services. Environmental services have included all issues of local, state, and federal environmental compliance, from National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), 316(b), and Title V permits, to waste management, and groundwater remediation of petroleum, radiological, and industrial solvents.

ENERCON is supporting new generation and transmission system growth. First, during planning - through National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) or State environmental assessment, Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) due diligence, site selection alternatives analyses, or wetlands, endangered species, or cultural resources surveys. ENERCON is supporting site selection for wind generation and new nuclear; the same principles apply for fossil fuel generation, especially if it includes CO2 sequestration.

Second, permitting for construction and operations - with direct experience in preparation and post-submittal support of air permitting, water appropriations, wastewater discharges permitting, Clean Water Act (CWA) 404 permitting for projects that may impact wetlands, and if necessary decommissioning of existing plants (such as radiological decommissioning, asbestos and lead-paint abatement, or subsurface/waste disposal site remediation).

Third, transmission grid infrastructure development - corridor alternatives analyses, route selection, Global Information System (GIS) mapping, drainage design, environmental clearance (wetlands, endangered species, archeological surveys), permitting (404, stormwater, state). Whether you need ENERCON for existing operations or new build - we're ready to meet your needs.
