Site Selection... Environmental Report... Post-Submittal Support
ENERCON has a unique and broad range of experience in supporting projects associated with deployment of new nuclear power plants under the restructured licensing process established in 10 CFR Part 52. E&IS completed the development of multiple first-of-a-kind Construction and Operating License (COL) applications for Duke Power, NuStart, and Luminant Energy for the Westinghouse AP1000, GE ESBWR, and Mitsubishi APWR reactors. No single company or team of companies in the industry has the breadth of experience in implementation of 10 CFR Part 52 possessed by ENERCON. ENERCON's environmental team designed the hydrogeologic, hydrologic, ecological, meteorological, and demographic site characterization programs to evaluate the impacts to terrestrial and aquatic ecological communities, threatened and endangered species, ground and surface waters, cultural resources, and population centers. ENERCON has been involved in projects negotiating the new licensing process in 10 CFR Part 52 for over the past seven years, including:
- Preparation of the Early Site Permit (ESP) application for Entergy's Grand Gulf Nuclear Station (GGNS), including support for responses to Requests for Additional Information (RAIs) and hearings;
- Completing the industry first COL Cost Estimate and Schedule Study for Duke Power;
- Ongoing support for development of NEI-04-01, the industry's guidance document for preparing COL applications, and NEI-07-01, the industry's guidance document for developing Emergency Action Levels for passive safety system plants; Participation in various industry working groups including the Design Centered Working Groups (DCWGs) and NEI Task Forces;
- Support to Duke, Luminant, and NuStart in preparing four COL applications.
- Support to additional confidential clients in preparation of cost studies, site selection studies, site suitability studies, site checks, and COL applications and siting studies.
As a result of these and other activities, we have amassed a vast and unique knowledge base regarding the preparation and review of COL applications.
