Nuclear Plant Operating License Renewal

Data Analysis... Environmental Report Preparation... Post-Submittal Support
ENERCON is one of the few consulting firms in the nation with direct experience in preparation and post-submittal support of the Environmental Report (ER) prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and Nuclear Regulatory Commission operating license renewal process codified in 10 CFR Part 51 and 10 CFR Part 54. ENERCON becomes a key, integral part of the client's license renewal team to update the physical, demographic, and environmental characterization of existing nuclear plant sites, evaluate any new and significant issues, define potential adverse impacts, and provide an analysis of potential alternatives to the proposed action. The ER is prepared using the format and content in accordance with Regulatory Guide 4.2 - Supplement 1 to Reg. Guide 4.2 Preparation of Supplemental Environmental Reports for Applications to Renew Nuclear Power Plant Operating Licenses. ENERCON is intimately familiar with NUREG-1437 Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants, and NUREG-1555 Standard Review Plans for Environmental Reviews for Nuclear Power Plants, including Supplement 1 for license renewal. ENERCON's license renewal personnel review each license renewal application ER submitted to the NRC, and routinely reviews the NRC Supplemental Environmental Impact Statements (SEISs) written to NUREG-1437. ENERCON's team also routinely review NRC site audit Requests for Information, and other Requests for Additional Information.
ENERCON can prepare any necessary Coastal Zone Management Act Consistency Certification to support the license renewal effort.
ENERCON can also support the development of the Severe Accident Mitigation Alternatives (SAMA) section in Chapter 4 of the license renewal ER. We have developed the SAMA demographic and meteorological data package and supporting white paper for the MELCOR Accident Consequence Code System MACCS2 modeling effort.
