Transmission & Substation Services

Route Planning... GIS Mapping... Environmental Permitting

Anticipated growth in electric power consumption is driving plans to upgrade and expand the nation's transmission systems. ENERCON offers a broad spectrum of engineering and environmental services to support this expansion. ENERCON supports new transmission projects from the planning stage through engineering design.

Environmental services include but are not limited to:

  • Routing and corridor alternative studies;
  • Global Information System (GIS) mapping layers of project areas, corridors, alternate routing;
  • Wetlands delineation and mitigation;
  • Identification and tabulation of State and Federal threatened and endangered species and species of concern;
  • Threatened and Endangered Species Surveys;
  • Threatened and endangered species trapping and relocation;
  • Cultural Resources (archeological) review;
  • Demographic studies to define population centers, density, and land use;
  • Identification of local, state, and federal parks, and other recreational areas;
  • Characterization of the physical, meteorological, surface water and groundwater environments;
  • Description of terrestrial and aquatic ecological communities;
  • Identification of airports, military facilities, mines and quarries, hazardous cargo routes, EPA superfund sites, and other hazardous environments;
  • Visual Impacts;
  • Permit acquisition for jurisdictional water crossings;
  • Federal National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and/or State Environmental Policy Act environmental reviews.

Once the corridor planning and environmental reviews are complete, ENERCON supports the permit acquisition and development of construction impact mitigation, operations environmental compliance, and provides engineering design services.
