Engineer of Choice (EOC) at Pacific Gas & Electric's Diablo Canyon Nuclear Plant

Since January, 2006, ENERCON has maintained an onsite team at the Diablo Canyon site under an Engineer of Choice (EOC) contract. This team provides for the development of plant design modifications and other engineering support. Unlike client staff augmentation or even T&M engineering support, ENERCON is responsible for managing the onsite staff and making sure it is fully applied to ongoing projects. Our site engineers are directly responsible for interface with client site personnel and are responsible for ensuring their work not only meets quality, but also schedule requirements. When workload peaks or specialized tasks are encountered, ENERCON is able to pull qualified individuals from our offices in to support the site team quickly and effectively.

Since the beginning of the contract in 2006, ENERCON has successfully performed over a hundred modifications for PG&E addressing a wide variety of significant engineering problems such as instrument & controls obsolescence, intake structure improvements, chemical system enhancements, and plant electrical upgrades. Additionally our personnel have supported other major PG&E projects such as steam generator replacement, turbine rotor replacement and other large projects.

The onsite EOC Project has resulted in a reduction in PG&E costs and resources needed for plant design modification projects and helped increase ENERCON's responsiveness to PG&E's needs.
