Plant Modifications & Licensing Support

It has been over thirty years since original designs for nuclear plants were completed. Since that time, the nuclear utilities have systematically improved on the original designs of their plants to allow more reliable and efficient operation and to conform to new licensing requirements issued by industry regulators. ENERCON has supported this work by developing modification packages that change or replace many of the earlier designs and systems. Our professionals provide services to modernize equipment, improve efficiencies for heat transfer, and increase the safety margins of systems, structures and components that comprise the nuclear facility. Our expertise address a broad range of services including equipment obsolescence, life extension, cooling tower capacity, heat transfer, HVAC capacity, component aging and fatigue analyses of piping and vessels, instrumentation set point optimization, and electrical load modeling.
ENERCON engineers train to our client's modification processes and safety evaluation procedures to allow ENERCON's design teams to develop complete modification packages that can be installed in an operating nuclear power plant under the rigorous oversight of our clients and regulators. In addition to ENERCON's strong experience in the design process, ENERCON maintains a dedicated staff with specific BWR and PWR licensing experience. At many of our clients, ENERCON engineers maintain site specific qualifications for performing 10CFR50.59 evaluations.
