What is something people may not know about you?
I live on the water, so I enjoy going boating, paddle boarding and kayaking in my free time. I also make a point to travel every summer and visit local art museums and state parks throughout the country.
How has your daily life changed since the Coronavirus protocols were put in place?
Since ENERCON released procedure changes in response to the COVID-19 virus, I have taken more thought and care into the health and safety of myself, my family and my coworkers. My current position is already specified as a “work from home” job, so this was not a drastic change for me. However, I used to coordinate with my coworkers in the area for weekly face-to-face meetings and group collaboration on projects. Now, we no longer meet in person, but we have taken the time and effort needed to effectively work together through group phone calls, direct messaging, and meetings on teams and WebEx.
You typically work from home. What are some tips you have for others now that we’re mostly all working from home?
Working from home has become the norm for me now. Therefore, my advice for those who have made the transition would be to: make sure you have a comfortable and quiet working environment where you can set up for the day. This space should be large enough for all your working materials to fit comfortably. Don’t be afraid to reach out to your peers/supervisors/IT if you have questions related to completing your work. The most successful people who work from home tend to over-communicate.
I would also recommend taking regular breaks to eat, drink, walk around and stretch. This can help reduce the monotony of sitting at your desk all day and provide some physical activity you may be lacking throughout the day. Overall, I feel grateful to have the support and encouragement from ENERCON to work at home during this time, as many people in our country are not capable of doing so.
