Thanks for printing! Don't forget to come back to ENERCON for new articles and information.
ENERCON is a leader in supporting utilities and merchant project developers in planning and executing strategies to deploy new nuclear power plants. Since 2001, ENERCON has been at the forefront of efforts in the United States to implement a new licensing strategy to accelerate deployment of new nuclear power plants. This has included strategic planning, selection of potential sites, preparation of licensing documents, and serving as “Owner’s Engineer” to help facilitate licensing, construction and commissioning efforts.
ENERCON has completed a broad range of strategic studies for clients including developing a business case for potential new nuclear plants, developing budgets and schedules for licensing and deployment efforts, evaluating the potential benefits of deploying small modular reactors, and evaluating strategies for water usage by potential nuclear plants.
ENERCON has completed numerous studies throughout the US to identify potential sites for nuclear power plants. ENERCON applies a sophisticated, systematic methodology to identify potential sites and apply successively more rigorous screening criteria to select a preferred site. ENERCON has completed numerous investigations of the feasibility of potential nuclear sites including evaluating seismic/geotechnical conditions, population distributions, water resources, and access to transmission.
ENERCON has prepared numerous licensing documents under the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulatory framework to support potential deployment of new nuclear power plants. This has included Applications for Early Site Permits (to secure approval to use a given site for a nuclear power plant prior to the selection of the reactor technology to be used), Applications for Combined Construction and Operating Licenses, and support for preparing Design Certification Applications for reactor technologies. ENERCON is a recognized expert in supporting licensing of new nuclear power plants in the United States and has supported review of applications by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff, the NRC Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards, and Atomic Safety and Licensing Boards.
ENERCON provides specialized support to nuclear power plant project developers to support deployment. This includes review of documentation prepared by the reactor technology providers, monitoring schedules and earned value, developing staffing and resource plans, capacity building, providing support for permitting processes outside of the nuclear licensing process, and completing site engineering to support plant layout and construction.
