Enercon Services Inc. (ENERCON) completed a Grid Hardening Highway Crossing project for a Utility client to strengthen power grid and improve resiliency.
Utilities across the United States continuously strive to improve the resiliency of their existing infrastructure and minimize the impact of an outage on their customers. Since 2019, ENERCON has worked with our clients to improve and harden hundreds critical transmission structures that cross railroads, highways, and interstates. This has been achieved through the acquisition of LiDAR survey data, development of as-built models, field review, and the preparation of detailed engineering and construction packages to install terminal dead-end structures on either side of each crossing. Remediation methods have included but are not limited to increasing clearances, installing guyed structures, self-supporting steel poles, increasing hardware strength capacity, with each design alternative tailored to the site specific conditions and limitations imposed. The Grid Hardening Highway Crossing project is one of many examples of how ENERCON is helping Utilities improve their Grid reliability.
