Enercon Services Inc. (ENERCON) completed Extended and Thermal Power Optimization Power Uprate feasibility studies (EPU and TPO respectively) for two US nuclear facilities. ENERCON’s team of experts completed evaluations to identify the direct impact of the power uprate on approximately two dozen balance of plant (BOP) systems and programs. These evaluations reviewed previous power uprate documentation and utilized engineering judgement supplemented by previous uprate experiences to identify areas of limited operational margin. Each evaluation included recommended evaluations, models, and modifications needed to proceed with the uprate. Overall categorizations of mild, moderate, or significant were assigned to each system/program relative to the degree of impact and the likelihood changes needed to accommodate the planned power uprate. Lastly, these assessments also included a rough order of magnitude (ROM) estimate for design, procurement, and construction costs.
