Transformer on Electricity Substation at sunsetWhen a Utility in the Southeast needed upgrades for a 115/25kV substation, ENERCON’s Power Delivery experts were asked to develop and/or update all control drawings associated with the 115/25kV substation upgrades.

Solution:

  • The 115/25kV substation upgrade project involved replacing and modifying protection and control equipment, including replacing 115/25kV Transformer Protection with the new SEL relays.
  • Additional equipment replacements and installations included removing the Station Service Transformer. Additional equipment replacements included new fused safety disconnect switches on all outdoor AC load centers and the battery bank, replacing the station battery charger, and installing a 115kV High Side Bus-Tie Switch.
  • Control drawings were developed or modified to reflect these changes, including cable lists, drawing lists, one-lines, three-lines, AC and DC elementary diagrams for new relay panels, connection and wiring diagrams for new equipment, and communication connection and wiring diagrams.

Outcome:

The Substation project was aimed to upgrade and improve the protection and control equipment for optimal performance of reliability in the client’s footprint. This was achieved through a series of replacements, installations, and modifications and developing control drawings.

In addition, ENERCON updated the relay and control detail design of the substations, SCADA drawings, RTU wiring, and point assignments as needed.
