Enercon Federal Services (ENERCON) was recently awarded an Architect & Engineering (A&E) contract with the Design Engineering Division of Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) to provide facility modification design services for the U1a.03 Test Bed Project in the U1a facility at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS). The U1a Complex is an underground laboratory used for subcritical physics experiments to obtain technical information about the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile. These experiments support the NNSA’s Stockpile Stewardship Program, whose mission is to maintain the safety and reliability of the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile.

The scope of the awarded A&E contract includes providing designs for safety-significant structures, systems, and equipment in the U1a Hazard Category II facility. ENERCON is set to provide NNSS with engineering services covering mechanical, electrical, civil/structural, communications, mining systems, instrumentation, and controls.

ENERCON has partnered with Golder & Associates, Janus Fire Systems, Meier Architecture & Engineering, and CGW Engineering to deliver geotechnical services, fire protection system design, architectural engineering, and surveying support, respectively.
